MKLA Minutes, July 13, 2010
The meeting was called to order by President Greg Brandt shortly after 7:00pm.
Attending were 15 members, 2 guests, Joseph Schale from Leavenworth and Pat Mulcahy of Master Lock.
Jug McKee led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary
Earl Boutell read the minutes of the June meeting. John McGuire made a motion to accept minutes as read,
Royce Welch seconded, and the motion carried.
Treasurer Steve Conradt reported the monthly expenditures and deposits with an ending balance of $7,882.72.
John McGuire made a motion to accept Treasurer’s report as read, Jug McKee seconded, and the motion carried.
Scammers Report:
Earl Boutell reported that the Mo. Attorney General’s office was aware of Yoseff Amatay’s employment with
Alpha Locksmith, and he was working to pay restitution. The ALOA application of Eyal Lugassi has been put
on 90 day hold, pending further investigation. Tim McMullen of ALOA notified the Secretary of several complaints
he received regarding the applicant. Ms. Lavonna Woods of Kansas City will file an Official ALOA Grievance
Report, stating Lugassi left her vehicle unsecured after trying for 3 hours to make an ignition key; a violation of ALOA Code
of Ethics.
John McGuire reported no new applications.
Old Business: Greg Brandt
initiated discussion on the proposed Swap & Shop. Discussion included educational seminars, lunch and
the swap meet. Proposed is the event at Tom Vinch’s facility on the second Saturday of October.
Proposed is 3 educational classed in the morning, lunch break, and the swap and shop after lunch. Possible
educational class is Ilco on auto transponder keys. A flyer will be published and mailed after educational
classes are finalized. Proposed name for event; Locktober and Lunch & Learn.
New Business: Greg Brandt asked for volunteers
for the Nominating Committee for next year’s officers, John McGuire and Bill Perry volunteered.
Nominees are introduced to the membership at the August meeting, Voting is during the September meeting, and installation
of officers is in October.
Tips
and tricks: Lisa Bortzfeld reported several hardware stores in Independence are now cloning Ford
transponder keys for $50.
Pat Mulcahy of Master
Lock presented some new products, including the key pad residential lock, and Master’s class 3 locks available at Target.
Literature was presented for Master Lock products, and Mike Frasher from Smallwood was available to answer questions.
Several locksets were raffled off as door prizes.
Meeting was adjourned.
